One of my passions is collecting and restoring anique and
vintage sewing machines, both for their aesthetic appeal and the excellent way in which they stitch all manner of items.
Being a keen quilter I love the ease with which you can quilt beautiful lines using just a hand crank sewing machine
and the spectacular freemotion work you can do using a foot powered treadle. Antique people powered machines can be
found in charity shops, ebay and even at your local tip if you look hard enough. You can also find some lovely
newer vintage machines in the same places but it can be a minefield especially when you are dealing with old and often
unsafe electrics. We are always happy to offer advice on buying and restoring machines and offer lessons on how to use
them and clean them yourself. If you already have an antique people powered machine and would like it serviced,
restored or even wish to sell it please see our list of services.
