Eco Sewing

vintage.jpg

Eco Sewing is a phrase that I use to describe sewing in an environmentally friendly way.  For me it is about upcycling old clothing and using people powered sewing machines.  With the currently financial climate getting worse many people are turning to sewing to learn how to make clothes, soft furnishings and in doing so save a bit of money and have some fun.  With the New Year we are adding new classes and open days around this particular theme and hope to inspire you to be thrifty with your crafting.

Learn to Use Your vintage Sewing Machine

Do you have an old family sewing machine in the loft or being used as a table?  Ever wanted to learn how to clean, maintain and sew with these beautiful environmentally friendly machines?  On this one day course you will learn how to clean, oil and thread up a variety of vintage sewing machines from Hand Cranks to Table treadles and vintage electric machines.  Once you have mastered the machines you will make a lovely bag to take home with you.  If you are looking to buy a machine we offer tips on what to look for as well as selling a selection of machines here to take away at the end of your course.   You are welcome to bring your own machine along to clean, service and learn on.

Vintage machines are particularly good for patchwork & Quilting,  Free motions machine embroidery and for children to learn on.  All materials, Lunch & afternoon tea provided.
