Rowan Tree Studio

Here at Rowan Tree Studio we offer a variety of craft workshops that teach a variety of  fun and useful skills in a relaxed environment.  Our one day and weekend workshops cover Soap Making, Candle Making, Natural Skincare, Sewing, Dressmaking, Patchwork and much more. 
We offer group classes on set dates and private group and 1-2-1 workshops in all our crafts and Business classes for Soap Making, Candle Making and Natural Skincare.  We also run fun Hen & Birthday parties with optional vintage afternoon tea.
Run by Sarah Harper founder of The Clovelly Soap Company and based at her beautiful studio in the Picturesque village of Clovelly in North Devon. 

Workshops

Natural Candle Making Courses

Learn how to make natural plant wax Aromatherapy candles on our one day candle making course.  Make Container candles, Pillar candle and Beeswax Dipped Candles.  Learn how to blend scent and get to grips with wicking.  We also run a Candle making business course

Soap Making Courses

Learn how to make Cold Process soap on our one day course & take home 21 bars of soap.  Our Soap making courses teach you everything you need to make your own soap at home and if you want to take it further our Soap Business Courses teach the rest

Natural Perfumery Courses

Learn how to blend scents and create your own unique perfume spray and oil perfume on our one day course.  Learn how to train your nose and about Top, Mid & Base notes and how to mix them to perfection in your own atomiser perfume and oil perfume

Natural Skincare Courses

Beginners Patchwork & Quilting Courses

Beginners Patchwork and Quilting weekend course.  Learn how to cut, piece together, quilt and bind your very own lap quilt or bed runner.  A fun Patchwork course deisgned to give you all the skills to start on this fabulous craft

Learn to Use Your Sewing Machine

Bring your sewing machine along or use one of our new Janome Sewing Machines and learn how it all works and how to make a simple bucket bag and zipped make up bag.  A great way to demystify your machine and really get you sewing

Beginners Dressmaking

Beginners Dressmaking one day workshop where you will learn the basics of dressmaking and make a simple skirt and PJ bottoms

Needle Felting

Learn the absorbing and relaxing craft of needle felting on our one day fun workshop.  Make a simple 3d shape and create your own creature to take home.

About Us

Rowan Tree Studio started in teaching craft workshops in 2011 when we relocated from London to Clovelly after teaching for several years at a workshop in Crouch End.   I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and doing it in a beautiful and relaxed space.  Our workshop has been teaching Soap Making courses, Candle Making Courses, Natural Skincare Courses all with my 20 years experience running The Clovelly Soap Company
In my personal life I love fibre arts in particular Patchwork, Embroidery and mixed media.  Teaching Patchwork courses, Sewing Courses, Freemotion Embroidery and Needle felting allow me to do something I enjoy and share that with other people.  Our studio is fully equipped with new Janome Sewing Machines and all the gadgets you need for each craft.   We also love to provide yummy simple lunches and cake so you will come away well fed, well taught and with some new friends

Craft Parties

As well as teaching our workshops we also love to hold Craft Hen Parties, Craft Birthday Parties and Group team building days for companies, friends and Families.  Our spacious studio can hold up to 20 people for a craft party with the option of a vintage afternoon tea suitable for all dietary needs.  You can make your own wedding bunting, Soap and Candle Favours to match your wedding theme and your very own wedding quilt with all your friend and family helping to add personal touches to a future heirloom.   Visiting the area?  Why not come and sew your own stitched family tree or make your own soaps and candles and skincare.  All our workshops are available as private group courses just get in touch with Sarah for dates
